Maxi dress: shoes and accessories

A maxi reaches the floor or nearly so, and so everything is decided by what is under it and next to it: shoes, belt, bag. The same dress at a wedding by the sea and at a working dinner is two different dresses, and you get the difference with small things. We show it on three of our maxis.

A wedding by the sea

The satin maxi is an evening when you want the fabric to move with you. We wear it with sandals on a thin heel and a small clutch, and for jewelry we choose long earrings. The removable belt splits the dress into a top and a skirt: with it the waist is defined, without it the silhouette stays loose. Red is for those who are not afraid of attention, black and gray for those who want to leave the word to the fabric.

Theater, dinner

The yellow stretch mesh dress draws attention with its color, so we keep the rest restrained: black sandals, a small clutch, no heavy jewelry. For a cool evening we add the black cropped blazer, which shortens the silhouette and does not hide the length.

A walk, coffee

The green or light blue maxi slip works well in everyday life: flat sandals, a fabric or woven bag, a light cardigan over the shoulders. The straps adjust, so the length can be corrected to the shoes. For the evening we pull the same straps up, add a heel, and the dress becomes a different one.

Shoes, belt, bag

Heels lengthen the silhouette. In dresses with a slit the leg is visible, so a flat sole works too: our cup dress with a slit goes with both heels and flats. With a long dress we choose a small bag or a clutch, and for jewelry earrings or a thin bracelet.
