Slip dress: how to wear it by day and by night

The slip dress is the one piece that we put on at nine in the morning for the office and at ten in the evening for a concert, changing only the layers. We cut it loose, with adjustable straps and a V-neck, and that is why it can be both covered and open. Our models: the milk maxi (sizes S and M) and the maxi in green, light blue, black and brown (XS–L).

Morning, the office

By day we wear the dress over a shirt, for example the cream chiffon one, or over a thin turtleneck: the look becomes covered and calm, and the long hem marks the silhouette. On top, a blazer such as the black cropped blazer; on the feet, loafers. A watch and a leather bag of a strict shape are enough accessories.

#lifehack: before leaving, set the straps so that the neckline of the shirt under the dress is not visible; the adjustment takes half a minute and changes the whole look.

Day off, a walk

Without the blazer the slip moves easily into a day off: sneakers on a white sole, a denim jacket or a large sweater over the shoulders, a fabric bag. The straps can be shortened so that the length allows a wide step, which is convenient when you walk through the city and not on heels.

Evening, a concert

In the evening we take off the shirt and let the dress speak for itself: heels or stiletto sandals, a clutch, long earrings. The adjustable straps let you set the length and the neckline, and the loose cut leaves room to move, so the dress suits a concert and a long dinner alike.

Color decides the mood: milk reads soft and light, green and light blue are more expressive. With green we take gold jewelry, with light blue, silver.

Autumn, a long coat

In the cold season the slip does not go into the closet: we put it over a thin long-sleeved turtleneck and add leather boots and a long coat. The maxi length lets the coat stay slightly shorter than the dress, and that contrast in lengths is the main decoration of the look.
